JBoss SNMP Agent provides out-of-the-box fault and performance
management for the application server by exposing JBoss MBeans
via SNMP. This is accomplished by implementing the J2EE-MIB
defined in the JSR-77 specification.
JBoss 3.x series is supported. However, the JSR-77 specifications
are not completely implemented in JBoss 3.0.x. Hence, maximum
benefit can be obtained only in JBoss 3.2.1 application servers.
3. Do I need to restart the
JBoss application server after installing the SNMP agent?
No, the JBoss SNMP agent, available as a web application,
can be directly deployed into the server when it is running
and can be instantly managed through SNMP.
5. Can I monitor the JBoss application
server through HP OpenView?
Yes, after deploying the JBoss SNMP agent, you can monitor
the health of the server through enterprise consoles such
as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter, etc. The communication
between the manager and the agent is through SNMP.
