AdventNet Joins Expert Group For JMX, The Java Management
Standard
Pleasanton, California., April 8 2002
AdventNet, Inc., a pioneer in standards based Java application
management, has joined the Java Community Process Expert Group
defining standards for Java Management Extensions (JMX), the
key standard for managing Java and J2EE applications. AdventNet
is now a member of the expert group focusing on JSR (Java
Specification Request) 160. JSR 160 is a key initiative developing
the client-side specifications for JMX, which extend the initial
JMX standards to management applications.
AdventNet was among the first software vendors to recognize
the potential of JMX as a management standard to bring all
the benefits of standards-based management of Java applications
to enterprises. These benefits include investment protection,
avoidance of vendor lock-in, interoperability with other applications,
etc. The AdventNet ManageEngine, based on JMX, is the only
product to offer standards-based business-oriented manageability
for business processes, applications and middleware infrastructure.
The core technology for the AdventNet ManageEngine is the
widely used AdventNet Agent Toolkit, built on JMX and SNMP
technologies.
AdventNet's Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Tony Thomas, a
recognized expert in application and network management in
the telecom and enterprise segments, said, "JMX is the
universal, open technology for monitoring and managing Java
applications. AdventNet considers it a privilege to have been
invited by the distinguished panel of experts shaping the
JMX standard. We are honored to be a part of the standards
development process for this important technology".
AdventNet provides one of the first independent implementations
of the JMX standard. AdventNet's products, including AdventNet
Middleware Manager, AdventNet ManageEngine and AdventNet Agent
Toolkit are built on standard technologies, including JMX.
These products enable proactive management of mission-critical
J2EE and Java application deployments, and will support the
new JMX standards being developed. In keeping with AdventNet's
complete commitment to openness, all these and other products
are available for download in their entirety at www.webnms.com.
