The OS Deployer Server and the OS Deployer Management Console use the following ports and IP addresses for remote operation:
Yes, OS Deployer provides the option to image specific drives of a hard disk.
The images can be stored in the hard disk of the imaged computer, network share, CD, and other removable media.
The image can be split and stored in multiple CDs
Yes, images can be deployed to multiple computers using flexible deployment options.
No, using the multicast option the image is broadcast to multiple computers in bulk, thereby controlling the bandwidth.
The Universal Deploy Add-on can be used to deploy images to dissimilar hardware.
You can use ManageEngine Desktop Central for efficiently managing the desktops like deploying software, managing the patches and assets, applying security restrictions, managing software licenses, and so on.
The Universal Deploy helps you to deploy the images to the dis-similar hardware. For Example, if you wish to deploy the image taken from the Dell Laptop to HP Laptop then you can achieve this with the Universal Deploy, which takes care of installing the Mass Storage device drivers and also you can install the specific Mass Storage Device drivers (Applicable for RAID controllers) or automatically search for the Mass Storage Device drivers in the specified location (Network Share/External Media).
Check whether you have installed Universal Deploy add-on. This add-on should have to be separately installed along with OS Deployer. You can download the EXE from our website and install.
If you have encountered a problem and if you seek assistance with the support, it is helpful if you could attach the relevant logs so that the support team can analyze and trace the problem quickly. You would need to send the zip of the folowing logs:
To save the agent logs in the server, you should select the option "Store logs of media to the deployment server" option available under the Network Settings of the Deploy Agent Creation wizard.
OS Deployer licensing is based on the number of deployed and/or managed computers. E.g., to deploy a system on 100 computers one needs 100 licenses. Further managing or redeploying of the deployed computers does not require additional licenses. Depending on the operating system, one needs to have either a workstation or a server license - refer to the next question for the license type for different operating systems.
In addition to per-machine licensing, ManageEngine OS Deployer 4 supports per-deployment licensing.
A deployment license enables you a single successful deployment to a particular machine. A machine license enables you an unlimited number of deployments to a particular machine.
Universal Deploy is an add-on for Servers and workstations, which are priced separately. This is required only when you try to deploy a standard image to dissimilar hardware
