How to configure Global HTTP profile for iOS devices?

Description

This document will help you to configure Global Http proxy settings as a profile for the managed iOS devices.

Global HTTP proxy is a feature that can only be applied to iOS 6 Configurator Supervised devices. To know more about apple configurator supervised devices, refer to: http://www.apple.com/education/resources/information-technology.html. By imposing this profile on the users mobile devices, you can ensure that the internet connectivity is always re-directed through one proxy. This provides data security since all personal and business communication is filtered through the Global HTTP proxy.

Steps

To create Global HTTP proxy profile, follow the steps given below:

1. Click the MDM tab
2. Click Create Profile
3. Select ios profile
4. Enter name, description and configure the user authentication settings for profile removal.
5. Click Continue and select HTTP Global Proxy
6. Specify the following information
• Proxy type
• Server details
• Port number
• User Name
• Password
7. Click Save
8. Click Publish to save the changes made in the profile.

This profile can be associated to iOS 6 apple configurator supervised devices only. This profile will not be applied if you choose any other device.

Note: It is recommended to create a separate group for iOS 6 apple configurator devices.
