ADManager Plus is a hub where you can manage multiple platforms, whether that's Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, or Skype for Business (Lync 2015). Yet another shiny feather in ADManager Plus' all-encompassing cap is that it lets you create dynamic distribution groups in Exchange Server 2007, 2010, 2013, and 2016, and query-based distribution groups in Exchange Server 2003.
When it comes to creating dynamic distribution lists (DDLs) with native tools, you have to create the group first and then modify it to configure all the settings, while PowerShell requires multiple long and complicated scripts. ADManager Plus lets you set all DDL attributes during the creation in a single window with a few simple point-and-click actions.
A whole lot can be configured in the creation process, including mandatory properties (name, container, alias, and associated administrative group) and other properties such as manager, MailTip, group moderators, approval settings, send permissions, recipient types, rules or conditions (used to define membership criteria in the DDL like department, office, city), and more.
ADManager Plus standardizes and streamlines DDL creation with templates. You can save the standard or predefined attribute values in a DDL creation template and then use that template to automatically update the attributes of new DDLs with the specified values.
The template structure consists of tabs (general, filters, and Exchange), and each tab includes relevant fields. You can easily customize the template layout and fields as needed with simple drag-and-drop actions. Customization options let you:
You can also delegate DDL creation to help desk technicians. The non-invasive help desk delegation feature lets you assign specific tasks to non-administrative users without elevating their permissions in Active Directory. This reduces the burden on administrators while ensuring complete security in the DDL creation process.
Furthermore, you can select the attributes that a help desk technician is permitted to assign values for. For instance, you can grant a technician the permission to enter values for mandatory attributes but not for fields like "Reject messages from." You can also create technician-specific templates so that a specific technician can only modify certain attributes. Therefore, you keep ultimate control, and the delegates can assign values only for the attributes they are entrusted with.
Besides DDL creation, help desk technicians can also be assigned the task of creating, modifying, or deleting DDL creation templates, as needed.
